School of Fish and Trap Shooting League
The Lac Qui Parle Lake Association is a proud sponsor of youth activities in both the Lac Qui Parle Valley and Montevideo School Districts.
Professional fisherman Mike Frisch presented the "School of Fish" program at LQPV High School and Montevideo High School. Students learned open water fishing basics including tying knots and rigging slip bobber rigs.
All participants received a rod/reel combo, t-shirt, snack bag, and fishing book. Mike returned in Fall 2013 for the "School of Fish On Ice" program.
In its inaugural year, the trap shooting league included students from both Montevideo and LQPV school districts. LQPV had 25 student participants who shot 7 weeks, 50 rounds each week. Thirteen shooters qualified for the state tournament in Alexandria.
Chloe Sachs took 3rd place in the female novice division and Quintin Peterson took 3rd in the JV males division. The team finished 14th out of 96 teams.
